Health Information Management

These are healthcare professionals trained in public health and Information management and are involved in the practice of acquiring, analyzing and protecting digital and traditional medical information, Public health information, vital to providing quality patient care and protecting the population at all levels of the health care structure of Ghana.

Their primary duty involves the provision of Reliable and timely health information as an essential foundation of public health action and health systems strengthening, both in Ghana and internationally. Health information provides the underpinnings for decision-making in the area of data generation, compilation, analysis and synthesis, and communication and use. Means the practice involving the reception, creation, storage and analysis of health information so created and reporting and research; and includes health records practice, anatomy and physiology, disease classification and medical terminology competence, hospital activity analysis, initiation of death audits in all health facilities public and private and Information & communication technology (ICT) for health; or any other related subject as may be approved by the council.
